What Do I Believe?

What is the Cup of Wrath?

“Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it...And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible” (Isaiah 13.9,11 KJV bible). “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (1st Thessalonians 5.8-9 KJV bible).

Cupofwrath.com is about helping Christians to understand what the bible really says...

We've all heard it before...that the bible is the truth, the Word, and God's divine revelation unto man. Yet, what does it really say? The sad reality is that the faith of most Christians has no scriptural foundation at all, and when you build your faith on something other than the truth (whether it be a tradition, group, church, or pastor) you will be let down. Leaders and institutions are inherently fallible, but the bible is not. When all is said and done, God's Word is the only thing we can fully count on as being authentic, and when combined with faith it will be a great rock and shelter against the storm.

Though few will admit it, studying the bible can be a challenging and even intimidating experience. There are endless opinions about what it supposedly says, enough to drive a person mad. Too often the ones who claim to know are simply reciting what someone else has told them, not what they have figured out, thus perpetuating lies and half-truths. Confusion is the rule, not the exception, and some are even driven away from the scripture, becoming themselves skeptics. But there is one God and one truth, and he is not the author of confusion and babble (which is man's work), but the author of peace, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1st Corinthians 14.33 KJV bible). The bible can be intimidating and cryptic, but it does reveal its wisdom to those who seek and listen, “Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets...Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you” (Proverbs 1.20,23 KJV bible). God will pour out his wisdom upon those who are receptive to it.

Every group says something different, so how do we know who's right? I'm certainly not infallible, and I don't claim to have every answer, but I do back up what I say with scripture, working to ensure that it is rightly-divided and in context. If you disagree, then prove me wrong, not with what you've been told, but in the scripture. If I am wrong that's fine, and I'm not above being persuaded or changing my mind. I can promise you one thing, that the bible is for real, and going around pretending to know what it says doesn't count. Jesus is the Living Word, and if you don't even know what the Living Word said and taught, how can you walk around using his name to identify yourself?

Ultimately, this is not about who's right and who's wrong, or trying to discredit some group or denomination. There are faithful and well meaning people in all denominations. This is about the truth, because the bible is your lifeline, sword, armor, and it will validate and parallel your experience as a Christian. Having a working knowledge of scripture is going to get you through, strengthening your soul to pick up your cross and follow Christ. It is written for your well-being, so that you can have an anchor and solid foundation in this world of confusion and despair.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock” (Matthew 7.24-25 KJV bible).
